Ottawa Senators Add to Coaching Staff, Sign Marc Crawford

Cross another name off the list of available coaches, as the Ottawa Senators have gone with the quantity approach. After missing out on Bruce Boudreau, the Sens signed Guy Boucher as head coach on Saturday and have now brought aboard Marc Crawford on as an associate coach, according to TSN’s Darren Dreger.

Crawford has spent the past four years in the Swiss-A league with the Zurich Lions, leading his teams to a 125-47-28 record in 200 games. Over that time span Crawford has won the the Swiss Championship and lost in the finals in back-to-back years.

Crawford has been out of the NHL since 2010-11 when he was head coach of the Dallas Stars. Dallas had a positive points percentage in both seasons he manned the bench but failed to make the post-season each year.

Crawford also spent time in the Swiss-A league at the same time as Boucher and is fluent in French, an asset that will come in handy in his new home.

The Senators released the majority of their coaching staff in the off-season and still need to find another assistant coach as well as a goaltending coach.
