Five-time FIFA World Cup winners Brazil to play in Colorado for the first time
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Friday, April 8, 2016) – Colorado Rapids announced today that Dick’s Sporting Goods Park will host an international friendly between Brazil and Panama on Sunday, May 29 at 7:30 p.m. MT.
Brazil and Panama to face-off at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on May 29 as teams prepare for Copa America Centenario
The international match will be the final test for both countries as they prepare for Copa America Centenario, an historic tournament featuring 16 nations from CONCACAF and CONMEBOL. The month-long competition will take place across the United States from June 3-26 and therefore both squads for this game are expected to be drawn from their full Copa America roster
The two teams last faced each other on June 3, 2014 when Brazil defeated Panama 4-0 in a friendly ahead of the FIFA World Cup that year. This will mark the first men’s senior game in the state of Colorado for both countries. Brazil has an all-time record of 4-0-0 (16 GF, 0 GA) against Panama across all competitions dating to 1952.
Dick’s Sporting Goods Park has also hosted several prominent club and international games, including last year’s CONCACAF Olympic qualifiers, the 2007 and 2015 MLS All-Star games, as well as a number of USMNT and USWNT World Cup qualifiers and friendlies.
