David Pocock Cited (After Chiefs Super Rugby Match)
David Pocock of the Brumbies has been cited for alleged foul play during a Super Rugby match at the weekend.
Pocock is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (e) Playing a player without the ball is dangerous play, and Law 10.4 (m) Acts contrary to good sportsmanship, during the match between the Brumbies and Chiefs at GIO Stadium in Canberra on 2 April 2016.
Pocock is alleged to have grasped the neck of Chiefs number eight Michael Lietch during a maul in the 74th minute of the match. Upon review of the match footage, the Citing Commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play.
The citing is to be considered in the first instance by SANZAAR Duty Judicial Officer Adam Cassleden.
All SANZAAR disciplinary matters are in the first instance referred to a Duty Judicial Officer hearing to provide the option of expediting the judicial process.
For a matter to be dispensed with at this hearing, the person appearing must plead guilty and accept the penalty offered by the DJO.
