Fast Break: NBA MVP, Seattle's Best, 3 Point D?, Gigantic Deltoids and Thrilla in Manila II?

First, welcome to Fast Break.  As you already know, the NBA is never short of drama, intrigue, and wicked performances, all worthy of making the night’s ticker.  Like you, I feverishly watch the ticker, sometimes many, many times, before finally turning the channel.  And when I find a few stories I like, then I’ll look into them – it’s just my routine.  So what I aim to do for you in Fast Break, is give you an idea of some storylines that I looked up based on basketball tickers that I found particularly interesting.  If you find any of these tickers worthy of your time, why not do a little digging – believe me, they’re worth it! So, on with show – NBA Fast Break in 300 Words or Less:

How can we NOT start with the Lakers? Of course there is the age-less wonder, Steve Nash, who is doing what he was brought to do.  And Superman, Dwight Howard, is bringing it.  But it’s Kobe who has the team on his back. Kobe is making a serious case for MVP, or well he would be if Lebron James didn’t already wrap up the award a month ago…… David Stern has said it is going to take a lot more than what is currently on the table to keep the Kings in Sacramento.  Does anyone outside of Sacramento give a rat’s ass? I hear Seattle has good coffee, and at one time grunge music. Side note; how come several Californian teams have “Kings” as their name? (LA Kings, Sacramento)?……Apparently Deron Williams can shoot (record-setting NINE 3-pointers in a half).  After his, say, seventh 3-pointer of the HALF, might have been a good idea to rally the troops and pose some form of 3-point defense.  Not that I have coaching credentials……The NBA and its Players Association are nearing an agreement for HgH testing, which may come as early as next year.  If they are testing for that in baseball, and catching guys, one can only assume there may be some merit in starting that in the NBA where many guys have delts as big as my head……I’ll leave you with some international flavour: The NBA is staging a preseason tile in Manila, Phillipines, on October 10 between the Indiana Pacers and Houston Rockets.  I was hoping the Pacers would get the Pistons for a replay of their Malice at the Palace brawl, except we would obviously call it the Thrilla in Manila.  Actually, we wouldn’t.  That would anger too many people.

There ya have it, NBA headlines that you need to be aware of, in 300 words or less.  Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter – @LastWordOnSport.
