An Old Track
The Homestead-Miami Speedway is celebrating twenty years of hosting the season finales for NASCAR, and while that may not seem like a long time for such an old series, the surface of the south Florida track says otherwise. Described by many as a “cheese grater”, the track takes on a lot of rubber throughout practice and qualifying, setting up a strong groove for racing that can spread into two lanes closer to the wall. Bottom line – expect close side-by-side racing all weekend long, as long as Mother Nature doesn’t interfere.
Some New Faces
At the close of the weekend at Miami, three new champions could be crowned in NASCAR. Erik Jones and Tyler Reddick are close enough in points to race it out for the Trucks title on Friday, while on Saturday it will be Chris Buescher’s championship to lose in the Xfinity Series. And of course, the premier ticket of the weekend will see four drivers race for the Sprint Cup title, with two of the drivers (Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr.) racing for their first titles.
The Final Countdown
While NASCAR’s crowning moments for champions will be on display this weekend at Homestead, the finale is here for one of it’s most iconic drivers. Jeff Gordon will race for the final time in the Sprint Cup Series on Sunday, retiring from the sport and moving on to become a broadcaster on Fox Sports. In a season that has been dominated for Gordon with touching tributes and memories from seasons past, he will have one final chance to make his mark even bigger on the sport, by walking away on top as Sprint Cup champion.

As the 2015 season for NASCAR comes to a close, many teams will use these races to build momentum for the upcoming 2016 season. With just a few months until Daytona for testing and racing, who will grab the important win before the end of the racing season?
The first champion of Ford Championship Weekend will be crowned on Friday night as Erik Jones and Tyler Reddick battle for the title in the Camping World Truck Series on FS1. Then tune in for the Xfinity Series championship-deciding race, the Ford 300, on Saturday afternoon on your local NBC station. Finally, the championship four will race it out for the Sprint Cup title on Sunday afternoon, live on NBC.
