Paris, Stade de France Gripped by Terror Attacks

Multiple, coordinated terror attacks have gripped the Paris metro area, including the Stade de France during a friendly between France and Germany.

A massive, coordinated terrorist attack took place in multiple locations throughout the Paris metropolitan area Friday night, including the Stade de France where a friendly between France and Germany was taking place.

According to multiple reports, as many as two explosions were heard outside the stadium. Later on, the president of the French Football Association confirmed that three people had been killed outside the gates of the facility. It appears that they were the victims of a suicide bombing as reported on by AFP. French police later confirmed that there were indeed two suicide attacks as well another separate explosion outside Stade de France.

The ensuing chaos throughout the city that has included subsequent attacks at a restaurant and concert hall led to fans flooding onto the field after the game, being forced to remain in the stadium until further advised.

France’s president, Francois Hollande, was in attendance during the game and was evacuated in the immediate aftermath of the attacks. He was later seen on French television coordinating the nation’s response to this situation, which included closing the French borders effective immediately. After the match, which was won 2-0 by the home side, players from both Germany and France were seen viewing the developments outside their locker rooms.

In addition to these incidents at the Stade de France, multiple police sources are indicating that there have been attacks on at least six different locations throughout Paris. The most prominent of these venues is at a concert hall known as the Bataclan, where as many as 100 people have been taken hostage. All in all, a variety of reports have indicated that as many as 40 people have been killed so far.

At the current moment, no specific terrorist organization has claimed responsibility for this attack.
