Jays Stay Alive in ALCS With Help From Marco Estrada

Toronto Blue Jays live to fight another day. Coming into Game Five of the ALCS , the Blue Jays were down three games to one to the Kansas City Royals. Starter  Marco Estrada played a huge role in the Jays win by throwing a shutout through seven innings, only giving up one hit before the eighth inning came around. Edinson Volquez started for the Royals and early in the game it was a pitchers duel, but the Blue Jays went up early with a Chris Colabello home run to left. From the second inning on it seemed Volquez was just as dialed in as Estrada was until the sixth inning, when Volquez walked the bases loaded. After the walk, Volquez was done for the day. Kelvin Herrera came on in relief for the Royals and gave up a bases clearing double to Blue Jays shortstop Troy Tulowitzki . The Royals only scored one run off of Estrada thanks to a Salvador Perez home run to right, following which the Jays pulled Estrada.

With the Blue Jays earning a 7-1 victory over the Royals, the ALCS will be a bit longer and will at least go six games. Here is the ALCS pitching match-up for Game 6 on Friday:

The Blue Jays will have David Price on the mound and the Royals will oppose with Yordano Ventura. So far the team Price has pitched for during his postseason career has not had much success; in the postseason games he has started, the team he played for has gone 0-7 . Ventura teams, on the other hand, have a 6-1 record in games he has started. If the Blue Jays win this game, there will be a Game Seven on Saturday. If the Royals win, they will be looking to win the World Series for the first time since 1985 and will be facing either the New York Mets or Chicago Cubs.
