Fantasy Profile: Blair Walsh, K, Minnesota Vikings

Blair Walsh was on my “Do Not Draft” list headed into last season, and while his production dipped partially due to the unforeseen loss of Adrian Peterson, the major issue I had with Walsh was the Vikings return to playing home games outdoors. After two seasons in the friendly conditions of the Metrodome, kicking outdoors in Minnesota was very likely to cause a drop in his accuracy, especially on longer kicks. After recording 24-out-of-30 (80.0%) on his field goals of 40-plus yards in his first two seasons, that rate dropped to 12-out-of-18 (66.7%). The return of Peterson will cut both ways, there will be more extra point attempts, but likely less field goals. Walsh should be nothing more than a bye week or match up fill in this season.
