Justin Wilson Critically Injured Following ABC Supply 500 at Pocono

The Verizon IndyCar Series race at the Pocono Raceway, the ABC Supply 500, took a turn for the worst. Andretti Autosport driver Justin Wilson was struck in the head with a piece of debris, potentially a piece of another car’s nose cone, during a crash late in the race. Now, Justin Wilson is in a coma following the crash and incident.

Wilson had been removed from his car and airlifted to a nearby hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The race was completed, and won by teammate Ryan Hunter-Reay. Wilson is now listed as in critical condition, and his family is on their way to the Poconos.

Justin Wilson, who was critically injured on Sunday, hails originally from South Yorkshire, England but lives with his wife and two daughters in Colorado. Wilson has started in six IndyCar races this season for Andretti Autosport in the #25 Honda, and has been in contention for a full-time ride with the team in 2016. He also competed in one race in the Formula E championship at Moscow for the same team.

We at LWOS have our thoughts and prayers with Wilson, his family, friends, teammates, colleagues and fans. We hope that Wilson will get well soon and be able to pull through this difficult situation.
