Fantasy Profile Brandin Cooks, WR, New Orleans Saints
Brandin Cooks was taken in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft by the New Orleans Saints to bolster an already potent passing attack. He is built as an NFL slot receiver with a small frame and quick feet but Cooks can do more than line up in the slot and run across the field. This man can fly and line up anywhere to make big plays. Last year Cooks played in ten games and started only seven, as an injury ended his season. In those few games he still hauled in 53 catches for 550 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Cooks comes back healthy in 2015 in an evolving New Orleans offense. No longer will Jimmy Graham be the number one option in a heavy passing attack lead by Drew Brees. New Orleans also let Kenny Stills leave to Miami which should leave the door wide open for Cooks. Colston is still around to get touches and Cooks’s small frame will limit his red zone targets but Cooks will be needed between the 20’s, and is the primary deep threat now. We all know how much Brees loves to throw the deep ball. Look to add Cooks in the fourth round of your drafts and maybe earlier in your point per reception leagues.
