Fantasy Profile: Tre Mason, RB, St. Louis Rams
Tre Mason was drafted in the second round of the NFL draft last year to the surpise of many after Zac Stacy broke out with a great rookie season the year before. In 2014, Mason had a commendable rookie performance as a whole, and was rewarded by watching his coach take the best back in the 2015 draft with the tenth overall pick.
Todd Gurley coming to St. Louis is devastating to Tre Mason’s fantasy value. Gurley is a true three down back with capabilities that will have him starting as soon as his knee allows. That is not to say Mason has no value. He will start the season with the bulk of the carries in St. Louis while Gurley recovers from his knee injury and on a run-heavy offense will still see touches through out the year. He also needs to be considered as a handcuff for Gurley if it doesn’t cost too high of a pick to do so.
