Firestone’s new Tire Keeps IndyCar Safer and Exciting

Pack racing in IndyCar has always been a touchy, controversial subject among fans. However after Saturday’s MAVTV 500, some fans may have there opinions swayed.

Firestone brought a new right front tire to Auto Club for the weekend, and drivers seemed like they liked it. Pack racing was shown throughout the race and cars got as close as possible without wrecking.

The series used the same set of tires excluding the new right front at Texas, however the track wore down the tires were terribly quick, it seemed as though the right front got the job done very well.

The race also featured a record number of lead changes – 75 – which is the most the series has seen in 15 years.

This all just helps the cause of keeping the always unpredictable mile and a half tracks in the series, and earning more viewers.

NASCAR drivers chimed in on the race and seemed to have a good topic to talk about on a Saturday Afternoon.

James Hinchliffe sounded off on twitter many of times during the race as well.

“I enjoyed this type of racing when I was doing it,” AJ Foyt said during an interview with NBCSN.

Even with a big wreck during the last lap on Saturday, it showed IndyCar has come a long way with making these races safer, and the best has yet to come, and Firestone’s new tire has played a significant role in that.
