It seemed business as per usual for Manor, who firmly cemented their spot at the back of the field. Both cars managed to start the race and both cars managed to finish the race. However, it is beginning to become clear that one driver is having the upper hand over his equally experienced team mate. With no 2015 car expected until at least August, it will be a case of beating the 107% rule at every event for Manor until then, where they hope to have a 2015-spec power unit. Whether their line-up remains the same until then remains very much in doubt, with Roberto Merhi’s time in F1 expected to end due to the start of the Formula Renault 3.5 series season.

Stevens thrashed his team mate in qualifying once again, and was over 40 seconds up the road from him at the end. Whilst it is unclear of the details of his race, he seemed pleased with his result. It appears more and more likely that he will remain for the rest of the season, whilst Roberto Merhi’s future remains in doubt.

Merhi has been very anonymous ever since his debut really. He has definitely struggled to match let alone beat Stevens, in both racing and qualifying trim. With the start of the Formula Renault 3.5 series looming and Merhi set to start that season, it is unclear how many more races he will do this season.
