The Los Angeles Clippers have announced today, that they have signed veteran point guard Nate Robinson to a 10-day contract. The 30-year-old Robinson recently spent time with the Denver Nuggets, but after only starting one game this season, the Nuggets decided to trade Robinson to Boston. Robinson’s time in Boston was short lived, as the veteran guard was bought out by the Celtics to free up cap space, and give him an opportunity to play for a contender this season.
Robinson, a 10-year NBA veteran, will add key experience to a Clippers team looking to make a strong push in the Western Conference as the playoffs approach. Nate Robinson is familiar to Clippers head coach Doc Rivers who coached him previously in Boston, whilst Robinson was playing for the Celtics. Robinson was a big part of why the Celtics made the NBA finals in 2010. The three-time Slam Dunk Champion (2006, 2009, 2010) Robinson clearly isn’t shy to dunk on bigger players, but Clippers fans shouldn’t much, if any, of that as Robinson isn’t the same high flying player he was earlier in his NBA career. He comes in looking to earn a longer contract with the team.
Clippers head coach Doc Rivers had this to say on the Robins signing, “I know Nate. I’ve coached him. So I have a comfort there.”
Nate Robinson will be available to play against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday. Nate Robinson will wear #8 for the Clippers. When his ten day contract is up, the Clippers would have the option to sign him to a second 10-day deal before the team would be forced to decide about keeping him the whole season.
