However, Reed’s win was overshadowed by multiple multi-car collisions including one that gave an injury to Kyle Busch. Busch got loose coming off the try-oval avoiding a caution when he went all the way down to the inside wall. Fans and other drivers voiced their opinions on twitter saying there should have been a safer-barrier in the wall.
Update on Kyle Busch hospitalized situation: Tire stacks have been placed outside of the wall where Busch crashed. Also: Matt Crafton has been named the interim driver for the #18 car during Sunday’s Daytona 500.
Ty Dillon had lead most of the race, but could not position himself to get the win on Saturday.
David Starr and Ross Chastain under-dogged their way into the top ten and round out the top five in the points standings.
One more notable saw defending Champion Chase Elliott involved in two wrecks and 20th in the opening points standings.
