UCLA got the first big commitment of college football’s National Letter of Intent day when Chris Clark, one of the top two high school tight ends in the country, officially signed on with the Bruins. Clark was ranked #111 in the ESPN 300.

Clark, a 6-6, 247 pound TE from Avon, Connecticut had originally given his verbal commitment to Michigan last year. When the Wolverines fired head coach Brady Hoke, Clark reopened up his recruiting options and UCLA quickly got into the mix. Bruins head coach Jim Mora even pulled off one of the more creative recruiting ploys by buying advertorial space in ESPN Magazine projecting Clark’s future if he were to choose to go to UCLA.
Michigan made a strong late push for Clark when it hired former San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh as their new head coach. Clark tweeted several times how impressed he was with Harbaugh’s intensity.
Clark is a big get for Mora and the Bruins, as UCLA has played the last two seasons without a prototypical tight end in the offense.
