CFL Fantasy Starts for Week 15

Jonathan Jennings, B.C. – $5680

With Travis Lulay injured, Jonathan Jennings reclaims the role of starting quarterback for the B.C. Lions. Jennings performed admirably in relief last week and has now benefited from a week of preparation as the starter, and DeVier Posey further integrating into the offence. While Hamilton’s defence may appear a daunting opponent, they have produced the second-fewest sacks and interceptions so far this year, as well as the third fewest pass knockdowns. Jennings will have ample opportunities to make plays and to utilize his athleticism for rushing yards. With a CFL Fantasy salary that represents a tremendous bargain, Jonathan Jennings is well worth the start as a bargain quarterback.

William Powell, Ottawa – $8991

It’s been stated on this site several times before, but you should always start a running back against the Eskimos defence. Combine the consistent positive matchup with William Powell’s elite ability, and you’ve got a sure-fire fantasy stud. Expect 15 or more carries, three to five targets, and a touchdown.

John White IV, Hamilton – $????

Alex Green was officially ruled out on Wednesday, which means John White appears ready to take over as the starting running back. White is currently not listed in CFL Fantasy but should be added today at an affordable salary. The former Eskimo has the talent to produce a big week, and the opportunity to carry the ball 10 to 15 times. While White has not been targeted yet this season, with so many injuries to Hamilton’s receiving corps, he could have the opportunity to add points with PPR production as well.

Bryant Mitchell, Edmonton – $4629

When slotting into the starting lineup in Weeks 10 and 13, Bryant Mitchell posted consecutive seven reception weeks. With Derel Walker now sidelined, Mitchell will continue to be heavily involved in the Eskimos prolific passing offence. Mitchell has tremendous talent, and is remarkably efficient, posting a 1.04 RACR score for slotbacklabs. His modest salary makes Bryant Mitchell a low-risk, high-reward gamble, and allows you to pair him with another stud receiver or running back.

Greg Ellingson, Ottawa – $6515

Greg Ellingson leads the CFL in targets and is fourth in slotbacklabs.com’s Air Yards metric. That tremendous volume will pay big dividends off this week, as Ellingson faces an Eskimos pass defence that is ninth in receiving yards allowed per game and eighth in receiving touchdowns during their last three matches. In a plus matchup with such a massive target share, Ellingson looks primed to find pay dirt this weekend, and to produce a pile of fantasy points.
