Lehigh Valley Steelhawks up for sale

As the National Arena League’s (NAL) second championship game approaches, the stock and excitement surrounding the league is at an optimal level.

We’re just a few days away from the title game, and it can’t get here fast enough.

Though, some bad news broke Monday afternoon surrounding the league’s Lehigh Valley Steelhawks.

The franchise put out a release that states that they are officially up for sale.

Steelhawks Executive Vice President and General Manager Mike Clark released this statement about the team.

“Our family has been blessed to be a part of the Lehigh Valley over the last eight years,” Clark said. “We have been able to start a team from scratch, engrain ourselves in the local community, help young athletes achieve their goals of playing professional football and moving them up to higher leagues along the way, and entertain thousands of fans during the Spring and Summer months. We have made Championship runs, seen league MVPs emerge, been a part of many charitable campaigns, and helped promote many local businesses over the years via performance partnerships as well. As a family owned franchise over that
entire span it is our hope that a new group emerges that will put the same love and care into it as we have, and continue the good works this team has brought to the area.”

The organization has been around for eight years and has subsided in Allentown, PA for the past four seasons.

“We can not thank the Lehigh Valley more for welcoming and supporting us over the past eight years. We are committed to finding a group that will continue to keep the Steelhawks in the area for years to come,” Clark said.

The statement also stated that while few potential groups have reached out so far, the Steelhawks ownership group hopes that a local group takes over with the same passion that they had.

Interested parties can contact Clark by email at [email protected].

The NAL’s championship game will take place on Monday, August 27 at 7:00 p.m. and will be live streamed for free on YouTube. LWOS will have full coverage of the game on twitter at LWOS_IndoorFB.
