The Green Bay Blizzard made a move for a head coach for the 2019 Indoor Football League (IFL) season on Friday morning.
The front office announced that interim head coach, Corey Roberson, would have the, “Interim” dropped from his name.
Green Bay Blizzard promote Corey Roberson from interim position
Roberson had taken over the head coaching reigns at Green Bay mid-season after an abundant start to the Blizzard’s 2018 year.
Though Roberson didn’t bring the Blizzard immediate success, he did enough to earn the overall coaching job according to the front office.
As he takes over the head coaching position, Roberson will have some work to do.
Since they went 11-3 in 2012, the Blizzard have ended six straight seasons with losing records. Over that time period, Green Bay has accumulated a 22-66 record.
Last season, Green Bay had its worst year yet, only racking up two wins and coming home with a 2-12 record.
There have been better times to be a Blizzard fan, but Roberson is ready for the challenges that next year will bring to Wisconsin.
“I am honored and humbled that the Blizzard’s ownership team of Larry and Kathy Treankler are giving me the opportunity to guide this franchise and move it forward in a positive direction,” Roberson said in a release. “I will work tirelessly to create a culture of accountability and dependability. Once those are established, everything else should play itself out.”
The 2019 season will kick off next February while the schedule for the league usually comes out in late October. LWOS Indoor Football will continue to have more updates throughout the IFL season as they break.
