The Stakes Have Been Raised

This Saturday, the number two seed Omaha Beef will take on the number one seed Sioux City Bandits. A birth in the Champions Bowl is on the Line.

Omaha Beef – How They Got Here

Since becoming an indoor team in 2000, the Beef have struggled to make the postseason. They have only done that once in Franchise history. Now in 2017, they are finally in the CIF playoffs. The Beef got here with a 7-5 record, which placed them in second place in the North standings. Last week, the Beef faced the Bloomington Edge. In that game, the Beef won by 13 with a final score of 43-30. Now, facing the Sioux City Bandits, can they get over the hump and go to a championship game?

Players to Watch – Omaha Beef

Now, let’s look at the Omaha Beef key players to watch. First up it’s Anthony Iannotti. This quarterback only misses two passes in last week’s playoff win. Along with that were 88 passing yards and a touchdown. When defenses come at him, he quickly can get out of the way and heave the ball down the field.

Jonathan Ray, who is the running back for the Beef is player number two. This quick running back had two touchdowns last week and is looking to have more this week.

The Final player is receiver Travis Ribbing. Travis had a great night catching six passes for 53 yards for one touchdown, this receiver has a quick reaction time and sees the whole field while running at the same time. He is an important piece for this Omaha Beef Offense.

Sioux City Bandits – How They Got Here

The Sioux City Bandits, a team out of Iowa is also in the same conference as the Omaha Beef. In the 2017 regular season, the Bandits finished with a record of 9-3. That record earned them the number one seed in the North conference. In the Sioux City Bandits first playoff game, they battled against the Bismarck Bucks. In that matchup, the game was one-sided where they won 80-43. Now, these two teams face off in a winner take on the game. Two will enter, only one will survive.

Players to Watch – Sioux City Bandits

The first player to watch for is quarterback Taylor Genuser. When Taylor Genuser is on the field and in the huddle, he is calm, cool, and collected. When commanding the offense, his numbers show it. In last week’s playoff game, he went 10-14, 18 yards, and threw for two touchdowns and an interception to boot. Will he continue to lead his team to the promise land?

Player two doesn’t get much love rather it’s in the NFL or in any league. In fact, it might be the most important position next to being the quarterback. Greg Conry has been 10/12 and scored a total of 10 points on extra points. He also has over 600 return yards which include a touchback and a few out of bounds kickoffs. Can he continue the streak?

They say defenses win championships. That is why player number three is from the defense. Rahn Franklin has made a big impact this season for the Bandits. Last week, Franklin got a crucial interception and took it 26 yards. Will he return one and will it go for a touchdown?
