Iowa Barnstormers Defeat Green Bay Blizzard, 64-12

There was no shortage of Friday Night Lights in the Iowa Barnstormers blowout win over the Green Bay Blizzard, in what looked like the team’s most complete game of the season.

Iowa, coming off a big road victory against Wichita Falls (9-3), kept the momentum going as they beat Green Bay for the fourth time this season.

“Usually after a big win, [teams] tend to lay an egg,” defensive back Matt Goldsmith said. “We’re just working, trying to turn up and bring a championship to Des Moines.”

Friday, the team played one of it’s most complete games of the season, while setting a record with nine games won in a row.

“This is exactly where you want to come together as a team,” coach Dixie Wooten said. “We’ve got three games left and we are playing some great football. That’s what it’s all about.”

To start the game, wide receiver Lucas Hefty slid to catch a ball before getting up untouched and making it to the end zone.

On the next drive, the defense forced a three-and-out, and the Barnstormers offense would return to the field. Quarterback Travis Partridge rushed for a 35-yard gain to set up a second Lucas Hefty Touchdown.

Later in the game, fit’s quarter after Green Bay got on the scoreboard, wide receiver Brady Roland caught a touchdown pass and was hit through the dasher board.

Roland came up slow, but ultimately returned to the game to make a second touchdown catch.

With 10:20 to play in the second quarter, Iowa lead 27-10.

The Barnstormers continued to pile it on, though.

After B.J. Butler converted a safety, Iowa scored twice more in the second quarter to enter the half leading 43-10.

In the second half, it was more of the same for Iowa.

Travis Partridge earned his fifth passing touchdown of the game and first rushing touchdown as the Barnstormers ran away with yet another victory.
