Iowa Barnstormers Face Cedar Rapids Titans Saturday
This Saturday’s matchup with the Cedar Rapids Titans (1-10) brings an amount of familiarity for the Iowa Barnstormers.
The Barnstormers will try to take down another team for the 3rd time this season, which is the second week in a row they will be trying to accomplish the feat.
“It’s not easy playing a team that knows what you do and knows how you play.”
Last week Iowa got through the Green Bay Blizzard for the 3rd time this year, but it took a last second touchdown by quarterback Travis Partridge to win.
However, this week, per usual, Iowa is trying to win big.
“It’s time for us to pick it up a knotch,” Javicz Jones said. “We’re not stooping down to anybody’s level.”
The last time Iowa faced Cedar Rapids, the Barnstormers used a goal-line stop on 4th down as time expired to scrape by the Titans.
“That was a game that got really tight there,” quarterback Travis Partridge said. “We could have done some things differently to [prevent] it from getting tight. “We have to correct the mistakes we made the last time we played them.”
Barnstormer players know how important this week’s game with Cedar Rapids is.
“If we don’t take care of it this week, we get kicked out of the playoffs easy,” coach Dixie Wooten said.
Iowa (8-2) is behind Wichita Falls (9-2) and Sioux Falls (9-1) in the United Conference standings. They must pass one of the two teams to make it into the 2017 IFL Playoffs.
One loss could knock them out completely.
“In this game, you never take anybody lightly, no matter what their record is,” Wooten said.
