This weekend in the Indoor Football League brought more exciting football, and Connor Ferguson breaks it all down in his Indoor Football League Week 8 Takeaways.
Indoor Football League 8 Takeaways
Barnstormers Overcome Adversity
The Iowa Barnstormers found themselves down by 12 points to the Green Bay Blizzard with 10:17 remaining on Saturday. They used defense to come back and win.
Quarterback Travis Partridge and linebacker Javicz Jones were a big part of the comeback on both sides.
Both teams were trash talking each other, and calls weren’t going the Barnstormers way. The two stepped noticeably stepped up, and help lead their team to a win.
Screaming Eagles Finding Their Way
It hasn’t been the best inaugural season for the fan-run Salt Lake Screaming Eagles, who have skidded to a 1-5 record to start the season. However, they took a step forward on Saturday.
The Screaming Eagles were taken down by the Wichita Falls Nighthawks by a score of 39-33. Aside from their loss to the Sioux Falls Storm, it was the least amount of points the Nighthawks had scored all season.
Wichita Falls is one of, if not the best offense in the league, and to do that should be an accomplishment in its own.
Not to mention, Salt Lake had the ball on Wichita Falls’ eight yard line, down by six, with under two minutes to play in the game. It very well could have gone their way.
Three-team Race in the Intense Conference
The Intense Conference race for the playoffs is already heating up. This week, the Arizona Rattlers (3-3) earned a 39-36 win against the Nebraska Danger (4-3) after a field goal with 1.5 seconds to play.
This comes a week after the Danger upset the 2016 Intense Conference champion Spokane Empire 42-36 on the road.
Both Spokane and Arizona are in action this week against other teams. In two weeks, however, the two teams will face off in another matchup of the big three of the west.
What to Watch For in Week 9
The entire ten-team league is slated for week eight action, including a game between the streaking Iowa Barnstormers and Nebraska Danger.
