Week six of the 2017 Indoor Football league season did not bring any upsets, but analyst Connor Ferguson knows it showed fans much more than that. He explains in our Indoor Football League Week 6 takeaways.
Indoor Football League Week Six Takeaways
Sioux Falls’ Defense
During week five, the Sioux Falls Storm showed made the Iowa Barnstormers offense look terrible. They went on to beat Iowa 70-13.
It seemed like Iowa might not have been as good as people thought. However, this week, the Storm were able to manhandle the best offense in the league. They held the Wichita Falls Nighthawks to 21 points.
That includes holding 2017 IFL MVP Charles McCullum to 118 yards on 13 completions. Those were both his lowest numbers of the season.
It’s safe to say the Storm are the clear-cut favorite to take home the crown yet again this season.
The Barnstormers Are Still Barnstorming
Last week, Ferguson wrote Iowa would be alright after the blowout loss to Sioux Falls, and they showed on Sunday that they would be.
The Barnstormers blew out the Cedar Rapids Titans 46-23, which is a deceiving score after some garbage-time points scored by the Titans in the final minutes.
The team looked like they were clicking on all ends in the second half, and lead 46-9 with eight minutes to play in the matchup. It was the most ideal way the team could enter the bye week after the game in Sioux Falls.
Blizzard Stopped Cold by Arizona Heat
It’s been the same story for the Green Bay Blizzard this season as it has in the past few years for the team: They are unable to finish off the big games.
The Blizzard had the ball in a tie game heading into the fourth quarter, but missed a 49-yard field goal that would have put them ahead.
After Arizona capitalized with a touchdown, putting them ahead by seven. Green Bay would counter with it’s own, but they missed the extra point.
If the Blizzard want to make an impact in the league, it will have to start with winning the big games, like that one.
