Best Indianapolis Colts Players Through Three Preseason Games

The Indianapolis Colts just played in their third preseason game in a 33-23 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last night. According to NFL.com, the Colts have had the worst running game of any team in the pre-season. They have only managed 54 yards per game on the ground. However, the passing game has been a little bit better. They are averaging 264 passing yards per game and all three quarterbacks have been solid.

On the other hand, the pass rushers and offensive line haven’t performed very well. No Colts players have registered more than one sack and the team only has four total sacks. The offensive line hasn’t been good either, as Andrew Luck has already been sacked three times in limited action.

The Colts have also had to deal with a slew of injuries, especially to cornerbacks. Vontae Davis, Jack Mewhort, Kendall Langford, and Henry Anderson might not be ready for the first game of the regular season. With so much change going on with the Colts depth chart right now let’s look at the three best Indianapolis Colts players through three preseason games. The Colts have had a rough preseason to say the least with all the injuries. Focusing on some positive takeaways from the preseason so far is a good change for Colts fans.

Best Indianapolis Colts Players Through Three Preseason Games

Stephen Morris

All three Colts quarterbacks have been good in the preseason so far. Stephen Morris has the best quarterback rating of them all at 127.6. He also had a solid game against the Eagles yesterday with 144 passing yards and one touchdown. Overall he has completed 19 passes for 314 yards and three touchdowns. He also has 46 yards and one touchdown on the ground. However, he is still currently the third quarterback on the depth chart behind Luck and Scott Tolzien. Morris is also the fastest quarterback the Colts have, which is useful considering the poor offensive line play.

Antonio Morrison

The fourth round pick for the Colts in the 2016 NFL Draft, Antonio Morrison was taken to add depth to the linebacker position. He is the current tackles leader with 16 combined and 11 solo tackles. He is currently sitting behind Nate Irving and D’Qwell Jackson on the depth chart, but he could make a leap if he continues his solid play. Morrison was also able to notch four tackles against the Eagles yesterday.

Josh McNary

One of the few positives Colts fans can take from last night’s game was a punt block by Josh McNary. Running back Jordan Todman recovered the ball for a touchdown. McNary, like Morrison, has been a pleasant surprise for the Colts’ linebacker position. He is second on the team in tackles with 12 combined and ten total. He also has one of the four sacks made by Colts players this preseason. McNary is seeing a large increase in his playing time because of the rash of injuries. The supposed starting weak side linebacker Sio Moore is currently injured. He is also behind Edwin Jackson on the depth chart.
