Kieran Agard Signs For MK Dons

MK Dons have signed 26 year-old Bristol City forward Kieran Agard. The exact details of the deal will remain undisclosed, however it is a club-record transfer fee for the Dons. Agard has signed a three-year deal with the club, which will keep him in Milton Keynes until the summer of 2019.

The Newham born striker started his youth career with Arsenal before moving to Everton in 2005. From 2008 he was getting some game time for Everton’s first team, making his debut in a League Cup match away at Hull. In 2011 though, he was released by Everton, having also had loan spells at Peterborough and Kilmarnock.

Kieran Agard Signs For MK Dons

Following his release from Everton, Agard joined Yeovil Town on a one-year deal. He made 29 appearances in his sole season in Somerset, scoring a total of six goals.

Agard j0ined Rotherham United in League Two after being released by Yeovil, where he enjoyed much more success. In his two seasons with the Yorkshire side, he scored 27 goals from a total of 78 appearances. He was also one of the main contributors to Rotherham’s rise through the leagues, helping them out of League Two and into League One.

Having started Rotherham’s first game in the Championship, a 1-0 defeat at Derby County, Agard  decided to drop down a division by joining Bristol City for a fee around £750,000. Agard also helped Bristol City on the way to the League One title in 2014/15, as they finished one place ahead of the Dons. From his 64 appearances for The Robins, Agard bagged 15 goals.

The new signing seems set to contest Nicky Maynard for the starting role in Karl Robinson’s team. The Dons boss has played his usual 4-2-3-1 formation in the opening two games of the season. It does not seem likely that he will change that. With Tom Hitchcock gone and Simon Church seemingly on his way out too; it will be down to Agard and Maynard to get the goals in for the Dons this season.
