The Nashville Predators have announced the signing of forward Calle Jarnkrok to a six year contract worth a total of $12 million. The contract will pay Jarnkrok $1.7 million in 2016-2017, $1.8 million in 2017-2018, $2.1 million in 2018-2019, $2.2 million in 2019-20 and 2020-21, and $2 million in 2021-22. It carries a $2 million AAV or cap hit.

Nashville Predators Sign Calle Jarnkrok, Matt Carle
Jarnkrok, 24, appeared in 81 out of 82 games for the Predators this past season, scoring 16 times, while adding 14 assists for 30 points. In the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Jarnkrok appeared in 14 games, tallying only one assist. In 167 games played in the National Hockey League, all for the Predators, Jarnkrok has scored 25 goals and 32 assists, for a total of 57 points. The Detroit Red Wings picked Jarnkrok in the 2nd round (51st overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He was traded to the Predators in March of 2014, as part of the deal that sent David Legwand to Detroit.
On the international level, Jarnkrok has represented Sweden five times in the last eight years. He won a gold medal at the 2013 World Championship and bronze at the 2014 World Championship. Before coming back to North America in 2013, Jarnkrok played for Brynas of the Swedish National League, where he won the 2012 Le Mat Trophy.
Signing Carle
The Predators also signed veteran defenseman free agent Matt Carle. Carle had spent the past four seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Lightning bought out the remaining two years of Carle’s contract in June. The contract with Nashville is a one year deal worth $700,000. Carle’s signing adds veteran depth to the Preds’ defensive corps. Last season, Carle played in 64 games, scoring only two goals and adding seven assists. Over the course of his NHL career, Carle has also played for the San Jose Sharks, and Philadelphia Flyers. He has skated in a total of 724 games, tallying 45 goals and 237 assists. In 127 career post-season games, Carle has a total of 44 points (Six goals, 38 assists).
