Abdel Nader‘s fourth NBA Summer League game was far different from his past three before.
Instead of playing minutes in the single digits, Nader gathered 16 on Saturday Afternoon. Instead of playing minutes in the single digits, Nader had 12 points, the second most on the team.
Nader has best SL Game vs. Hoiberg’s Bulls
Nader had not been getting a lot of court time, or points for that matter in the games leading up to this. In turn, Nader got a combination of the two to provide his best game of the Summer League Season on Saturday.
Is it fitting that the former Cyclone would play his best in front of his old college coach? Bulls Coach Fred Hoiberg coached Nader at Iowa State before leaving for the NBA to take over the reigns in Chicago.
Nader then of course had a strong senior year under new Iowa State head coach, Steve Prohm. He had an even stronger workout period to get drafted to the Celtics. As the story goes, here we are.
The former Cyclone ended the all-Iowa affair by finishing the game by going 4-8 from the field. He also added three rebounds, in the Celtics 71-62 loss.
Abdel Nader will take the floor for when the Celtics take on the Suns on Sunday at 9:30pm CT. Tipping off in the game before will be another former Cyclone in Jameel McKay. His Pelicans team will face the Jazz at 7:00pm.
LWOS’ Cyclone analyst Connor Ferguson will continue to have coverage and live updates on former Cyclones in Summer League action on his twitter account (@cfchangs9) and here on the site. That includes Abdel Nader of the Boston Celtics and Jameel McKay of the New Orleans Pelicans.
