Harrison Burton Finishes 3rd in ARCA Debut
“This is a really cool opportunity for me to come out here and race this race,” Burton said. “Its a whole lot of fun getting to race at a track where I get to watch guys run at on TV,” Burton said. “Its pretty high up there [on the personal list], it would have been high if we won, but it is one of the best 3rd places, I guess you can say.”
Indeed it was a nice 3rd place finish for Burton, who is just 15 years old.
“I didnt really get too nervous before the race,” Burton said. “I like to talk to [other] drivers during driver intros and we kinda try to have a good time down there.”
“I learned a lot tonight, which is what we set out to do,” Burton said. “I’ve never been on a track this fast before. I learned that you really have to keep your momentum up around here.”
Burton has ran a majority of his career in the CARS Super Late Model Tour and NASCAR K&N Series‘ cars, making ‘the fastest short track on the planet’ one of the biggest Burton has ever raced on.
“We ran pretty well, but you’re never really satisfied until you’re holding up that trophy in victory lane. This place is awesome. This has been such a cool opportunity. Running this race has really prepared me mentally for my next big race.”
Burton said he did not know if or when he would run another ARCA race, however he will be back at the Iowa Speedway for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series race on July 29th.
