Why John Cena Should Face The Undertaker At WrestleMania 33

It has been 13 years since The Undertaker faced John Cena at a pay per view. In this time both have go on to accomplish great achievements in their WWE careers. Cena has become the 15 time world champion and Undertaker has cemented his place in the Hall Of Fame. Both superstars are two of the top guys in the company. Two of the biggest names in the Professional Wrestling Industry as well. Hence a match between the two on the grandest stage of them all would be fitting right? Here is why John Cena should face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33.

Why John Cena?

Well who else? There is no one more deserving of this match. There are many superstars WWE could book to do the honor of retiring The Undertaker. However this is rumored to be The Undertaker’s final match before confirming his retirement. So WWE need to ensure that he is given a proper farewell as they shall be closing the most legendary and decorated career of any professional wrestler. WWE also need to give fans someone he has never faced before at Mania. Thus John Cena is the biggest name that is capable of fitting the bill to face The Deadman at WrestleMania.

What’s in it for both superstars?

Many fans will no doubt question how this can help both superstars. Especially on the part of John Cena and why he needs it. First of all yes, John Cena is the 15 time world champion and the face that runs the place. But it is not really about what The Undertaker needs it is more of what Cena needs. Of course Taker’ needs a proper farewell match and final bill but Cena needs something to set him on his way. Now at the Age of 39 there is not alot more Cena needs to accomplish except for the rub of The Undertaker. This is because once The Undertaker retires John Cena will then have the WWE locker room affiliated as his own. Thus fans can consider this match as the passing of the torch from The Undertaker to John Cena.

John Cena can play the Heel of the feud

In recent years a John Cena heel turn has become a WWE urban myth. Every year a John Cena heel turn has been speculated by fans as they await to see if WWE can take a risk with the top babyface of the company. Unfortunately for WWE fans this has not been something that is likely to happen anytime soon or ever for that matter. But in the event of WWE booking John Cena Vs The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33, we could potentially see a more heel Cena in the feud. So while the possibility of Cena turning heel remains unlikely at this point, WWE should make the most of a heel Cena while they have the chance.

One final run for The Phenom

Since 2010, The Undertaker has reduced appearances drastically. Only appearing at WrestleMania most years Taker has only sporadically appeared before his Mania matches. Since this is set to be Mark Calaway’s (The Undertaker) retirement match then a final run in within the feud is in order. Especially if John Cena is his final opponent because there could be some great segments between the two. Also in order to make the Undertaker’s final match and run special they need allow him more character freedom. Allowing fans to see more of Mark Calaway will add more of a personal hint to the feud. WWE need to ensure that they book this feud and match right because Mark Calaway deserves to go out on a high and nothing less to compliment his legendary career.
