When Renaissance Granite & Quartz head coach Jason Swanson messaged Monte Morris asking if he would be returning on Wednesday, Morris told him and his team that he would be back, and he, “Got better.” Morris put up 41 points, but that’s not all, view all of our game recaps and playoff standings below.
Wampler, Thomas push past ADIO
Tim Vorland Photography (5-1) 126, ADIO Chiropractic (3-3) 122
Tim Vorland Photography took home yet another victory on Wednesday Night behind Billy Wampler’s 33 points, and the help of the 3-point line. Guard Matt Thomas got stuck in traffic and showed up late in the first half. He still shot 4-5 from downtown, while teammate C.J. Rivers shot 4-6. The team had 19 total three pointers.
On the opposite end, Nick Babb earned his fourth straight triple-double, scoring 28 points, 17 rebounds and 12 assists. Jack Green lead the team with 31 points and Johannes Dolven had another 20-point, 20-rebound game.
Mitrou-Long’s 50 not enough to get past Lions Club
Des Moines Outreach Lions Club (5-1) 131, Phoenix Renewable Resources (2-4) 115
Naz Mitrou-Long continued his high-scoring YCCL success with another big performance on Wednesday, scoring 50 points. He now averages 51 points per game.
The Lions Club has surprised many during the 2016 season, as the team is lead by Ore Arogundade (Drake) and Matt Tiby (Wisconsin Milwaukee). Although most teams are captain’ed by Iowa State players, the Lions Club features two newcomers, who have not been in attendance very much.
Arogundade earned 29 while Matt Tiby had 27 on Wednesday. The game was tied with six seconds left in the first half, but Lions Club got ahead by four after an and-1 three pointer from Arogundade. They pulled away in the second half.
Monte Morris comes back better than ever
Renaissance Granite & Quartz (3-3) 134, Hannah Homes (0-6) 109
As Monte Morris returned for Renaissance Granite, it was evident he had come back from the Chris Paul Camp as a better player. He scored his first triple double of the season; putting up 41 points, 18 rebounds, and 14 assists.
However, Morris was not the only one with high numbers. Guard Travon Mitchell shot 10-16 from downtown to score 36 points for Renaissance. Daniel Edozie grabbed 24, including a dunk that just about broke a Valley Southwoods backboard.
The loss for Hannah Homes marks six in a row. It may not be easy for them to get into the win column, as they end the year with two games against Vorland Photography.
