Running back Arian Foster is still a free agent. The star running back rushed for 6,472 yards and 45 touchdowns in his six seasons with the Houston Texans. This makes it shocking he is still available. There may be one reason that he has yet to be signed – he’s injured.
Foster tore his Achilles in Oct. 2015 against the Miami Dolphins. Most teams wouldn’t want to sign someone with an injury like this. Whatever team decides to take the risk will be glad they did.
While we wait for a team to sign him, here are five teams with which Foster will fit in just fine.
4 Possible Landing Spots for Running Back Arian Foster
Oakland Raiders
The Raiders need a running back to complete their star team with quarterback Derek Carr, wide receivers Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree. They also have a dominant defense led by Khalil Mack. Foster is a good fit in Oakland because the offensive line that protects Carr and allowed him to be great will also be good to Foster. They would allow him to break open and make big plays for the silver and black.
Chicago Bears
In Chicago, Matt Forte was the star running back, rushing for over 1,000 yards in all but three seasons with the Bears. Foster, being a better running back than Forte, is a perfect fit in Chicago. His running skill would make the Bears’ offense with Jay Cutler and Alshon Jeffery that much better. The Bears would be smart to sign him.
Washington Redskins
The Redskins are another team that need a running back after getting rid of a star. Alfred Morris rushed for 4,713 yards in just four seasons with the Skins. He signed with the Dallas Cowboys this off-season. Foster would be joining a team that has much success offensively.
It starts with quarterback Kirk Cousins and continues with wide receiver Desean Jackson and tight end Jordan Reed. Rookie wide receiver Josh Doctson also looks like he could be a big-name player. Foster seems to be the missing piece. Him signing in Washington is a win-win for both sides.
Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals have one of the most explosive teams in the NFL as a whole. Their offensive line is amazing and would be a big help for Foster, who would no doubt put up some big numbers in the desert.
No matter where he signs, Foster will show that he can be one of the top running backs in the league. If he is signed by a team like the New England Patriots or Minnesota Vikings, he may not see much playing time. The Patriots already have two star running backs in Dion Lewis and LaGarrette Blount. The Vikings have arguably the best running back in the league in Adrian Peterson.
If Foster is looking for a team where he can make an immediate impact, the two teams he should look into more than any are the Redskins and Cardinals. Both teams need a running back more than most teams in the NFL. Both teams have explosive offenses, as well. With Foster on either of those teams, he could do great things.
