Report: Arron Afflalo Agrees to Contract with Sacramento Kings

Shooting guard Arron Afflalo agrees to a contract with the Sacramento Kings. The deal will pay him $25 million over two years.

The Sacramento Kings have come to an agreement with unrestricted free agent shooting guard Arron Afflalo, according to reports. The contract is worth $25 million over two years. The deal cannot be made official until the end of the NBA’s moratorium period on July 7th.

Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical broke the news on Saturday afternoon:

Report: Arron Afflalo Agrees to Contract with Sacramento Kings

Afflalo’s contract will take him through the end of the 2017-18 season. Afflalo is coming off a lackluster season with the New York Knicks where he averaged 12.8 points , 2.0 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game. His poor play ultimately led to interim head coach Kurt Rambis’s decision to move Afflalo to a bench role at the midpoint of the season.

Afflalo has played for five NBA teams up to this point in his career. After starting his nine year career as a Detroit Piston, he went on to spend two stints with the Denver Nuggets, and has also played for the Orlando Magic, Portland Trail Blazers, and most recently, the Knicks. Afflalo will now look to have a bounce-back season at the age of 30.

The Kings will look to use Afflalo as a starter on the wing in the upcoming season, after a mediocre campaign in the Big Apple last year. Afflalo will look to get back to be being the same player he was in 2013 with the Magic.
