Seven Fight UFC Veteran, Ryan Jimmo, Killed in Edmonton

Edmonton police are reviewing the hit and run death of seven fight UFC Veteran Ryan Jimmo.

The light heavyweight fighter was fatally injured Sunday morning following a dispute that took place in a parking lot in Edmonton.

The belief is that he crossed paths with the driver of another vehicle. Then, while he was proceeding back to his own car he was hit by the aforementioned vehicle and the vehicle fled the scene.

Jimmo would be pronounced dead in the hospital early Sunday morning at the local hospital in the Alberta capital.

Police described the perpetrator’s vehicle as “dark colored, customized older model pick up truck.”

MMA Career

The Saint John, New Brunswick native, Ryan “The Big Deal” Jimmo, had fought seven times in the UFC and none mwas bigger than his debut at UFC 149 in July 2012 in Calgary.

He would tie Duane “Bang” Ludwig’s record for the UFC’s quickest knockout when he knocked out Anthony Perosh in seven seconds.

Jimmo had a very impressive 19-5 record in his career as a Mix Martial Artist. His last fight was a Unanimous Decision loss to Francimar Barroso at UFC Fight Night 67 back in May of last year.

Family Support in MMA Community

The outcry of support his family has gotten from the MMA community on social media has been astonishing. Tweets from but not limited to UFC President Dana White, UFC analyst Kenny Florian, UFC Fighters Sean O’Connell, Michael Chiesa, and Chris Weidman all graced Jimmo’s social media and left some sort of heart felt message.

O’Connell might have won though for most loving tweet in where he said, “@RyanJimmo KO’d me in my @UFC debut. But we knew and supported each other long before that. RIP to a man who has much more than a fighter.

This is just the most recent death in the UFC community. It follows of course the sudden and tragic deaths of both Joao Carvalho and Kimbo Slice. Carvalho died after suffering a 3rd Round TKO loss in an MMA fight in Ireland. Of course those two deaths followed the death of UFC Legend Kevin Randleman.
