We’ve now reached the halfway point of the YMCA Capital City League, and it’s safe to say that 2016 has brought some of the best games to Valley Southwoods in the form of very close games. Check out this link for a round up of all the YMCA Capital City League coverage on the year.
MVP of the Night – Ore Arogundade
Ore Arogundade was flying around the court on Friday Night, as he turned a 59% shooting night into 38 points. It was the current Drake Bulldogs’ second straight game with 30 points or more and third game this season scoring 27 or more.
Honorable Mention – Nick Weiler-Babb: On Wednesday Night during the 3rd slate of games, Nick Weiler-Babb was four steals away from a triple double. On Friday, he completed the triple double by earning 13 points, 12 rebounds, and 14 assists.
Defensive Player of the Night – Johannes Dolven
The Drake Bulldogs have now swept the individual awards as Johannes Dolven has found his way into this one. Dolven was one rebound away from playing his third straight 20-point, 20-rebound game.
Team of the Night – Phoenix Renewable Resources
The Phoenix Renewable Resources crew was without Naz Mitrou-Long and Darrell Bowie on Friday night, and none of the players present had scored in the double digits in the past two games. However, Phoenix found a way to keep things close with Tim Vorland Photography thanks to some great leadership from Kyliaue Lipscombe and high scoring nights from TJ Bower and Khalid Edwards.
