Some stars began to shine on Wednesday Night during the YMCA Capital City’s 3rd round of games. However during game two things got a little chippy during the first half between the Des Moines Outreach Lions Club and Vorland Photography.
Full game recaps, playoff standings and more can be found in the Here.
Photos and game awards, of course, can be found below.
MVP of the Night – Matt Tiby
Matt Tiby made his presence felt in the paint, as the big man shot 11-18 earning 29 points on the night. As the game got a bit chippy, Tiby stepped up for a big and-1 to help put his team in the lead, and later helping the DM Lions Club to the win.
Defensive Player of the Night – Nick Weiler-Babb
Nick Weiler-Babb put his head down and played basketball on Wednesday Night, cruising with 25 and helping his team to a 2-point victory on Wednesday. Not only did Weiler-Babb lead the league in assists on Wednesday, he also lead the league in steals with six.
Weiler-Babb ended the night just four steals away from a triple-double.
Team of the Night – Renaissance Granite & Quartz
They did not have any big names on the roster, and they were without potential future NBA’er Monte Morris, but they still managed to get past Naz Mitrou-Long and Phoenix RR. Not only did they get past Phoenix, they blew them out of the water, at one point having a 33 point lead.
Renaissance also had six players score in double digits, making their performance worth of earning Team of the night.
