Ryan Fitzpatrick and the New York Jets are apparently close to ending their contract stalemate.
According to a report from the New York Daily News, Fitzpatrick is ready to accept a one-year, $12 million deal to remain with the Jets in 2016. It’s a substantial pay raise from his previous one-year contract with Gang Green that paid him $3.25 million last season.

Report: Ryan Fitzpatrick, Jets Close To Agreement on 1-Year Deal
The 11-year veteran is coming off the most productive season of his career. Fitzpatrick seemed to gel well in first-year offensive coordinator Chan Gailey’s system. The two had been previously been together in Buffalo when Gailey was head coach for the Bills.
Fitzpatrick’s 3,905 passing yards and 31 touchdown tosses during the 2015 season were both career highs. The latter was also a Jets franchise record. And for just the third time in his career, Fitzpatrick played in and started in all 16 games.
The 33-year-old threw for four touchdown passes in a 38-20 Week 12 win over the Miami Dolphins last year. In so doing, he became the first signal caller in NFL history to achieve the feat with four different teams. The other three were the Bills, the Houston Texans and the Tennessee Titans.
Fitzpatrick played collegiately at Harvard where he was the Ivy League MVP in 2004. The next year, he was drafted in the seventh round (250th overall) by the St. Louis Rams. The journeyman quarterback has played for a total of six teams over the course of his career which is set to enter its 12th season.
