WoO Drivers try to hit the Jackpot

The World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series heads into Middlebourne, West Virginia for their 14th and 15th events of the young season.

It’s known as the Jackpot 100. It features two nights, 100 laps around the “racist little bullring in America,” Tyler County Speedway.

Over the weekend drivers will compete trying to win a share of a $125,000 total purse the staff at Tyler County is handing out during this 5th annual Jackpot 100.

The event features two major purses that are at stake for drivers including two full nights of racing ending with a 40-lap A-Main ($8,000) on Saturday Night, and a 60-lap A-Main ($10,000) on Sunday.

The favorite to win: home state hero, Josh Richards. The West Virginia native swept the weekend at Tyler County Speedway last season and looks to be the favorite heading into Saturday.

Richards has dominated the Late Models in 2016, cruising to five victories, 10 Top Five’s, 12 Top Ten’s, and of course the prestigious points standings lead.

On his tail are two veterans in the series in defending champion, Shane Clanton (142 points behind) and Rick Eckert (162 points behind). *Points tallied after 12th event at Smoky Mountain Speedway on May 7th.

Clanton owns another three of the 12 possible wins so far this season, trying to continue to build off of a stellar 2015 season with a Jackpot win.

The gates will open at 3:00 PM ET, prior to the Outlaws’ hot laps at 6:30 PM ET during both nights.

However before the Jackpot, Memorial Day Weekend will feature the first ever World of Outlaws race at Moler Speedway on Friday Night. Following the weekend, the outlaws will be on yet another multiple-week hiatus, before making their way to Weedsport Speedway on June 21st. After that, they round out the month with the Firecracker 100 at Lernerville.
