PITTSBURGH (May 3, 2016) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds forward Romeo Parkes was named to the USL’s Team of the Week after a stellar set of performances on the road. Riverhounds Forward Romeo Parkes Makes USL Team of the Week
The Saint Mary, Jamaica native has exploded onto the scene for the Hounds after not starting in the first match of the season against the Rochester Rhinos. Filling in for captain Kevin Kerr in the following match against Toronto F.C., Parkes scored his first career goal to help ensure a draw in Ontario. He followed up that effort with a penalty conversion against Orlando City B at home.
With four goals on the season, Parkes is tied for third overall in the USL and has accounted for all but two of the Hounds tallies on the season. Previously a member of A.D. Isidro Metapán in El Salvador, he is in his first season with Pittsburgh and is also the first Hound to earn Team of the Week honors since former Hounds goalkeeper Calle Brown in September of last year.
Parkes along with the rest of the Hounds (0-2-3) will look to secure their first win of the season this Saturday night, as they host the New York Red Bulls II (3-1-2) at 7 p.m. Fans can catch all the action live on the USL’s YouTube stream.
