A Chuba Akpom assist highlighted the weekend as again, few Arsenal loanees made it on to the pitch for their sides. It’s been a mostly disappointing run in for Arsenal’s players out on loan, as many have seen their minutes reduced in the final stretch of the season.

Wojciech Szczesny started and completed the full 90 minutes as Roma defeated Napoli 1-0 on Monday. An 89th minute goal from Radja Nainggolan gave Roma the win, boosting their Champions League qualification bid, and securing a 5th consecutive Serie A title for Juventus. Roma are now just two points behind Napoli for automatic qualification to the Champions League. They would currently have to play a Champions League qualifier. Szczesny made four saves to keep the clean sheet.

Yaya Sanogo came on in the 63rd minute as Charlton lost 3-1 to Brighton. The Arsenal man failed to make an impact, attempting just one shot. He did complete 100 percent of his passes, though he only attempted five.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles did not play as Ipswich drew 0-0 with Middlesbrough.

Isaac Hayden did not play in Hull’s 2-2 draw with Leeds United. Teammate and fellow Arsenal loanee Chuba Akpom claimed an assist, setting up Tom Huddlestone just before the break to give Hull the lead. The Arsenal loanee also played a key role in the buildup to Hull’s first goal, playing Robert Snodgrass into the box before Snodgrass found Abel Hernandez for the finish.  Akpom started the match, and nearly completed it, being subbed off in the final minute of stoppage time. It was a good performance for Akpom, who completed a high percentage of his passes, and was constantly a threat in attack, setting up two quality chances in addition to his assist, and forcing three saves. With three matches remaining, Hull are assured a place in the promotion play-offs.

Here’s the first goal:

Here is Akpom’s assist, just moments after the first goal:

Jon Toral  missed Birmingham’s 1-1 draw with Huddersfield through suspension.

Emiliano Martinez was an unused substitute as Wolves drew 0-0 with Rotherham United.

Wellington Silva did not play as Bolton lost 2-1 to Cardiff.

Gedion Zelalem made his first start in months for Rangers, playing 90 minutes as Rangers drew 1-1 with Alloa Athletic. It was a good performance for the Arsenal youngster, in his first significant minutes since February. While he did not register a goal or an assist, he was solid in possession and forced two saves from the Alloa goalkeeper. It was Rangers’ final home match of the season, as they head away from home for thier final two matches. Having already secured promotion, it’s likely Zelalem will be given further opportunities to start in the remaining matches.

Glen Kamara was an unused substitute as Southend lost 4-1 to Wigan.

Mathieu Debuchy’s Bordeaux side had the weekend off.
