“We’re excited to begin a new chapter of MMA in the Empire State,” said New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, who signed the bill to legalize MMA in New York. “The economics that go with this sport are undeniable. Congrats to the legislators for making it happen.”

While a date has been set for the UFC’s first trip to the Garden, no fights have been announced yet, but Lorenzo Fertitta is excited about MMA’s future in New York. “Our commitment to bringing incredible live events to New York starts immediately, as we’ve planned a major pay-per-view event at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 12. It’s going to be a historic, monumental moment for this sport and our passionate fans when the octagon finally arrives in New York.” Fertitta said.
