Did Kyle Busch and Phil Robertson Prayer Tarnish the Night

They say “everything is bigger in Texas” and it looks like that was the way again.  The Texas Motor Speedway was the site of our latest Xfinity and Sprint Cup races.  The track which holds stake as having the world’s largest HD screen had plenty to show the fans, Kyle Busch winning both races, and Saturday night’s somewhat controversial prayer.

Did Kyle Busch and Phil Robertson Prayer Tarnish the Night

First of all, Kyle Busch was able to sweep both races, again. It seems this feat by the native from Las Vegas is almost routine.  Kyle was able to win from the pole on Friday night and capture his 80th win in the series and his eighth win in the Lone Star state.  Kyle now owns eight cowboy hats from the track and said “guess you have a spare one for every day of the week.”

One question arises after talking with fans on social media, is Kyle Busch drawing fans to the sport or turning them away?  Yes some were not Busch fans to start with, it must be noted that many fans said something to the effect of “why watch Xfinity if Kyle is in it?”  Cup drivers always have and will continue to compete in the Xfinity series but does it now do more harm than good?  Bottom line is the more fans in the stands, the better off the sport is.  Some just wonder if the allure of seeing the cup stars battle in the lower tiers brings in more fans than it chases away.

Saturday night’s race brought some controversy right from the get go.  The race being named Duck Commander 500 is bound to bring out the Robertson clan.  These delightful people who made their fortune in the duck call business are always a huge draw for the fans.  Phil Robertson elected to commence with prayer before the race and said some things that took some by surprise, mentioning “guns and the bible” and asking for “a Jesus man in the white house.” It surely perked some ears. All captured for the masses on Big Ol Hoss.

It is well known that Phil Robertson is a Godly man and should come as no surprise, he speaks what he believes, and that’s not something done everyday, maybe that was the biggest shock of all.
