2016 USL Regular Season
StubHub Center – Carson, Calif.
LA Galaxy II (2-0-2) drew 1-1 with Orange County Blues FC (0-2-1) in a physical match Friday evening at StubHub Center.
After going goalless in the first half for its second straight game, Galaxy II was first on the board in the second half. In the 68th minute, Jose Villarreal controlled a nice pass from forward Jack McBean and found space to shoot inside the box, neatly putting the ball outside the reach of Orange County goalkeeper Brandon Miller and into the side netting.
But the Blues pulled level quickly; Orange County’s Didier Crettenand snuck a free kick just outside the 18’ through body traffic and past LA Galaxy’s Dan Kennedy in the 73rd minute.
Galaxy II controlled possession much of the evening, but didn’t find the game winner. Los Dos got off three shots on the night.
LA Galaxy’s Jeff Larentowicz also participated in the match. Larentowicz went 60 minutes in his first competitive match for the LA Galaxy organization. Kennedy played all 90 minutes and made one save.
Galaxy II have three more dates with Orange County Blues FC this season. The next will be on Saturday, July 2, at StubHub Center.
Looking ahead, the schedule doesn’t let up for Galaxy II. They’ll face new USL expansion club San Antonio FC at StubHub Center on Wednesday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. PT. For a full LA Galaxy II schedule, visit www.lagalaxy.com/2.
