Moritz Boehringer: Future NFL Stud?

Can Mortiz Boehringer, a wide receiver from Germany, make a name for himself in the NFL? Many teams are pondering this question as draft day approaches.

Moritz Boehringer is suddenly a name that is being tossed around NFL draft war rooms all over the country. After his exceptional success in a German football league he is attempting to become an NFL star.

Moritz Boehringer: Future NFL Stud?

Running the 40 yard dash in 4.43 seconds at 6’4 and almost 230 pounds may have something to do with the extra attention Boehringer is receiving. Those numbers translate to a big body NFL receiver or possibly a tight end. Boehringer attended the Florida Atlantic University pro day and was able to wow scouts with his athleticism. He finished the day with not only the great 40 time but a 39 inch vertical as well as a 1o’11” broad jump. Scouts are able to use these numbers to judge how explosive he can be. A tall, rangy, and fast wide out is of high value in today’s NFL. It is clear his measurements are up to par with those of other NFL athletes, the question of whether he is worth drafting comes down to his football experience.

Playing in a German football league makes it difficult to analyze how he will compete against top corners in the NFL. That makes drafting him a bit of a risk because though his numbers are great and his pro day went well, the level of football he has been playing at is not comparable to Division I football. These teams know that in a draft with many other talented receivers it could potentially be a huge mistake taking a chance on Boehringer. Teams are currently evaluating him and many teams are showing interest.

Multiple teams scheduled a meeting with Boehringer after his performance on his pro day. The Patriots, Packers, Vikings, Broncos, and Chiefs currently seem to be the most interested. With players draft stocks rising and falling as the NFL draft approaches it will be interesting to see where teams value Moritz Boehringer’s athletic skill set.
