Canadiens recall John Scott, Ryan Johnston; Send down Michael McCarron

The Montreal Canadiens announced a number of roster moves on Sunday, including recalling forward John Scott and defenceman Ryan Johnston from the St. John’s Ice Caps; and sending down forward Michael McCarron.

Scott made news earlier this year when he was voted by the fans to the NHL All-Star game while a member of the Arizona Coyotes. Scott would be traded to Montreal and assigned to the AHL, however after much controversy, it was decided that he would go to Nashville for the All-Star game. In Nashville, Scott won over the fans, and critics, winning the All-Star game MVP. He has two goals and two assists in 24 games with the St. John’s Ice Caps since his trade. He has played both forward and defence in the AHL, but is likely to be a forward in Montreal.

Johnston was an NCAA free agent who played for Colgate and signed with the Montreal Canadiens last year. After suffering a back injury in the pre-season, he has come back to play 34 games for the Ice Caps, putting up 9 assists.

Michael McCarron was the Canadiens first round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft. The 6’6″ forward has put up one goal and one assist in 20 NHL games. He has also played for St. John’s this season with 15 goals and 19 assists for 34 points in 55 AHL games.
