With just six games remaining on the season, the Maple Leafs made several roster changes today.
Zach Hyman, Connor Brown, Rinat Valiev and Connor Carrick have been reassigned to the Marlies, while Kasperi Kapanen, Tobias Lindberg, Andrew Campbell and T.J. Brennan have been called up to join the Leafs. Lindberg and Brennan have been deemed emergency callups.
Lindberg, originally a fourth round draft pick, was acquired from Ottawa via the Dion Phaneuf trade, and the 6’3’’ winger has acquitted himself well with the Marlies, amassing six goals and six assists over 19 games.
Pesky sharpshooter Nikita Soshnikov appears questionable to re-emerge with the Leafs again this season. Soshnikov has been injured since March 19th, the last time the Leafs squared off against the Buffalo Sabres , their opponent this evening.
Leo Komarov also remains off the roster due to injury, while rookie centreman Byron Froese draws in after a lengthy recuperation after breaking his hand blocking a P.K. Subban point shot on February 27th.. The rookie from Winkler, Manitoba impressed Leafs brass all season with his faceoff skills and defensive acumen.
Toronto looks to even up the season series at two wins apiece as they tangle with the Sabres in Buffalo this evening.
