Champions League Quarter-Final Draw

Manchester City will play Paris Saint-German in the quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League. City, who are the only British side left in this season’s competition, will have a tough challenge to overcome the French side who have already knocked out Chelsea in the last 16. Between the two sides’ progressions to the last eight, the Parisians wrapped up the Ligue 1 title with a 9-0 win over Troyes at the weekend.

Favourites Barcelona, who are looking to win the Champions League for the second consecutive year—something which no other team has done since 1990—face an all-Spanish encounter with a tie against 2014 finalists Atlético Madrid. The Catalans, who haven’t lost in 38 matches in all competitions, will have to be at their best to progress to the semi-final after Atletico progressed with an 8-7 penalty shoot-out victory against PSV Eindhoven. The last time the two sides met in the Champions League, Atlético won 2-1 on aggregate to progress to the semis.

Wolfsburg, entering their first ever quarter-final in the Champions League after a 4-2 aggregate victory over Gent, face a very tough task against Real Madrid. Zinedine Zidane will be looking to salvage his side’s season as they struggle in La Liga. Real cruised to the quarters with a 4-0 aggregate victory over Roma.

Bayern Munich, with Pep Guardiola in his final season and yet to lift the Champions League for the German side, face Benfic,a who last won the trophy in 1962. The Germans avoided being knocked out in the last 16 in dramatic circumstances at the expense of Juventus, eventually winning 6-4 on aggregate. Meanwhile, Benfica comfortably beat Zenit St Petersburg home and away.
