The 2015 season for the Buffalo Bills was a rebuilding year. In the off-season the Bills got a new head coach in Rex Ryan, a new quarterback in Tyrod Taylor and several other new skill position players. The team was competitive finishing 8-8 and in third place in their division. The Bills probably would have had a more successful season if their players could have stayed healthier in 2015. Let’s look at the Buffalo Bills 2015 fantasy football season recap.
Buffalo Bills 2015 Fantasy Football Recap
The Bills signed former Ravens backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor to compete with E.J Manuel for the starting quarterback position. Taylor would win the job and play 14 of 16 games. He missed two games in 2015 due to injuries. Taylor came into the season as a sleeper and would turn out to be a solid fantasy football quarterback. Taylor threw for 3,000 yards, 20 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also ran for 560 yards and four touchdowns. He finished with 258 fantasy points and averaged 16 points per game. With the depth at the quarterback position Taylor is a quarterback that you can target in the later rounds of your draft next season. With his rushing ability he should give you solid production on a week to week basis.
In the off season the Bills traded for Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy. McCoy started the season with a hamstring injury that seemed to stick around for most of the year which hindered his production. McCoy had 1,200 total yards but only had five total touchdowns on the season. He finished as the 17th ranked running back and averaged nine fantasy points per game in 2015. He also missed four games due to injury last season. Buffalo also selected running back Karlos Williams in the third round of last year’s draft. Williams was a solid fantasy running back especially when McCoy was out. Williams totaled 600 yards and nine touchdowns last season. He finished as the 27th ranked running back and averaged seven fantasy points per game. Williams started off the season on a hot streak scoring a touchdown in six straight games. But towards the end of the season he seemed to hit the rookie wall and his production became inconsistent. McCoy is the lead back in Buffalo but will lose some touches to Williams throughout the season. Shady is worth a second round pick next season. But if you draft McCoy you need to also draft Williams as he is the clear cut starter if McCoy were to miss time for any reason in 2016.
Bills leading receiver Sammy Watkins was coming off a great rookie season and had another solid sophomore season in 2015. Watkins finished with 1,050 yards and nine touchdowns. Watkins started off the season slow but finished very strong with two-thirds of his total fantasy points coming in the last six games of the season. He finished as the 16th ranked wide receiver with 152 fantasy points 101 of those in the last six games of the season. Watkins is a solid wide receiver two and is worth a third or fourth round pick in next year’s draft. Buffalo’s next leaving receiver was Robert Woods who finished with 552 yards and three touchdowns. Woods was very inconsistent in terms of producing fantasy points last season and with the depth at wide receiver is only worth a late round flier in next seasons drafts.
In the off season Buffalo signed former Miami Dolphins tight end Charles Clay. Clay produced solid fantasy points in the beginning of the season but had a few injuries throughout the season which limited his production. Clay finished as the 18th best tight end with 65 total fantasy points last season. Clay has proven that he can be productive when healthy. He should be available in the later rounds of your draft next season
If the Buffalo Bills skilled position players can stay healthy next season they should have no problem duplicating and or improving on their 2015 stats. Also with the Bills being in the AFC East division they will probably be in several high scoring games, which will give the Bills skilled position players more opportunities to produce solid fantasy numbers for your fantasy team in 2016.
