Manchester United starlet Marcus Rashford is set for a bumper pay rise after a blistering start to his career by scoring four goals in his first two professional matches, reports The Sun.
After scoring a brace against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League on Thursday night, the 18-year-followed it up with another brace and an assist in United’s 3-2 win over Arsenal at Old Trafford three days later.
Now the Red Devils are prepared to up his pay packet from £500 to around £15,000-a-week as his contract expires in the summer of 2017 with the club keen to get a deal struck with the youngster as soon as possible.
His current wage is below the UK average and is 600 times less than his teammate Wayne Rooney, with the England captain reportedly on around £300k-a-week at Old Trafford.
Rashford turned down Liverpool, Everton and Manchester City to join the youth set-up at United at the age of nine and progressed through the ranks to the under-18 side last season where he scored 13 times in 25 appearances, finishing the top scorer in the process.
His exploits for the United U18s has seen the striker included in the UEFA Youth League squad as well as the U21 side this season and has now found the back of the net for every squad after his recent exploits in the first-team.
Nike were quicker on the uptake than United as they offered Rashford a lucrative sponsorship contract following his goalscoring form for the U18s last season.
The win over Arsenal puts United right back in the race for the Champions League places in the Premier League and are now three points behind 4th-placed Manchester City, although the Citizens have a game in hand over their arch rivals.
Louis van Gaal’s side have won three on the bounce in all competitions and face Watford at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
