Report: Patriots agree to terms with Tom Brady on a Two-Year Extension

Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that the New England Patriots have agreed to terms on a two-year extension with quarterback Tom Brady.  The extension would be through the end of the 2019 NFL season.

If Brady is to play out the full deal, it would keep him with the Patriots through age 42.

Brady had two years remaining on his deal and was set to earn $9 million in 2016 and $10 million in 2017. The 38-year-old quarterback will now get two additional years, although details of the extension and if it changes his 2016 and 2017 salary were not revealed. The report also indicated the deal is not yet signed and “may not be for a little while.”

Brady put up an MVP-calibre season last year, throwing for 4,770 yards and 36 touchdowns to only seven interceptions.

For his career, the two-time NFL MVP has 58,028 passing yards and 428 touchdown passes. Brady has led the Patriots to four Super Bowl titles since taking over for an injured Drew Bledsoe in the 2001 NFL season.  This past season the Patriots lost to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship game.
